| Description |
Purpose: To determine what part of research results in information science is implemented and who can benefit from the implementations. Methodology: The assessment takes advantage of structured Emerald Publishing abstracts from three information science journals: “Journal of documentation”, “Online information review” and “Journal of knowledge management”. The research study was carried out on 152 articles from the year 2010. Findings: Papers on implementatio made only 6,6% of the whole. Greater percentage of papers on practical implementation had been expected. The results showed a big disproportion between theoretical and practical research. Limitations: Three journals taken into the study may not sufficient to regard the findings as fully conclusive but the inescapable fact is that the research results of information scientists are rarely implemented. Practical implications: Introduction of the Emerald Publishing abstract structure to Polish journals, conference forms etc. will facilitate a quicker grasp of paper content as well as could contribute to the quality increase of planned papers. Value: This is an original study. The results should encourage information scientists to take up more research that can be implemented. |
